Pass Plus

The Pass Plus scheme has been designed to develop the skills of the newly passed driver (you do not have to be 17 to take a pass plus course but make sure you check with your insurers to see if you are eligible for discounts) The aim of the course is to develop and improve your driving skills and make you a safer driver. The Pass Plus scheme was developed because, as a new driver, you are much more likely to have a crash within your first 2 years of driving than at any other time during your driving career. Even though you have passed your test you will still lack experience in certain areas of driving. For example, if you live in Cornwall and have learnt to drive in Cornwall there are no motorways. Pass Plus will give you experience in all the areas the standard driving test does not cover.

What is involved in a Pass Plus course?

The Pass Plus course is split into 6 modules - The first module is split into 2 parts - The "Introduction" followed by "Town driving". Module 2 is "All weather driving". Module 3 is "Out of town driving and rural roads". Module 4 is "Night driving". Module 5 is "Dual carriageways" and Module 6 is "Motorways". There are 2 levels of achievement on Pass Plus - Achieved or exceeded. If you reach the "Achieved" level on all modules you have passed!

How long is a Pass Plus course?

The minimum time for a Pass Plus course is 6 hours. However, it may take longer than this to complete all of the modules. If it does take a little longer to complete you will not be charged any more than the set course fee of £150. The course can be completed in a minimum of two seperate sessions but can be done over a longer period if neccesary.
